3. Donor Sign-up for 2026 Sponsor-A-Family

   This is the application for donors to sign up for the 2026 Sponsor-a-Family program. Please make sure to fill out the form in its entirety. 

   This form will have spaces for special requests for the families you would like to sponsor, but please note that while we will try our best to accommodate, we would appreciate your flexibility.

7. Thanksgiving Basket Info & Drop-Off Dates

   Thanksgiving Sponsors donate the components of a Thanksgiving meal to their neighbors in need. This typically consists of non-perishables and a gift card to a local grocery store to purchase a turkey and fresh components.
   
   As a Donor, you will be matched with a family (or families) in need that meets the criteria you requested as closely as possible.
   
   Vernon Township will then send you their anonymized information (ages and genders of each family member), their family identification number, a list of suggested items to purchase for their Thanksgiving meal, and the date for you to drop off your donation.

   We ask that, if possible, donors put their donated meals in reusable grocery bags as families can use these items when they visit the food pantry each month.
   
   Regardless of what container donors use for their donation, we ask that you label each bag/box/container with the family identification number. (Please do not label each item individually.)

   2026 Thanksgiving Drop Off Dates will be: 
   Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20. 
   Drop off Times for both dates will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
   
   If you are unable to make these drop off dates, PLEASE contact us at 847-634-4600 or foodpantry@vernontownship.com BEFORE coming to drop off items outside of the scheduled dates and times. We typically do not set up for drop-off until the week of these dates, and pick-up is shortly after, so letting us know helps us coordinate with the families.

8. Winter Holiday Basket Info & Drop Off Dates

   Winter Holiday Sponsors donate holiday gifts to their neighbors in need to assist in giving them a warm winter holiday. If interested, donors may also provide a holiday meal in addition to or in lieu of gifts.

   As a Donor you will be matched with a family (or families) in need that meets the criteria you requested as closely as possible.

   Vernon Township will then send you their anonymized information (i.e. ages and genders of each family member), their family identification number, a list of suggested gifts (including clothing sizes and favorite colors), and the date for you to drop off your donation.

   We ask that, if possible, donors wrap the gifts and label them for the recipient (e.g. "3F" or "13M" or "Mom/Dad" etc.) or provide unopened gift wrap and tape for volunteers to wrap the gifts for the families. Also, if possible, it would be best for donors to transport the items in reusable grocery/store bags as families can use the bags when they visit the food pantry each month.

46. Acknowledgement of Rolling Matchup Process for 2026*

    This year we will be doing rolling matchups as we update how we receive information from families to be sponsored and how we perform matchups. 

    We will still be matching donors with families of their preferred size or smaller (and other requests) to the best of our abilities and will attempt to provide donors with family information with as much time as possible to collect items.
    
    This will mean, however, that not all donors may be receiving their family information on the same date. Thank you for your patience with us and this change in procedure.
