EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

Emergency Assistance provides help for residents in life-threatening situations or to maintain self-sufficiency.  They must meet certain guidelines and are limited to one payment per calendar year.


GENERAL ASSISTANCE

General Assistance is provided for residents who are capable of working and meet specific state guidelines.


FOOD PANTRY

The Food Pantry consists of non-perishable food donated by the community for residents who need food due to financial problems. Proof of residency is required.

The  Food Pantry is available Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, and the 1st Wednesday of each month from 9:00am-1:30pm.

Food stamps can be applied for at the Illinois Department of Human Services by calling (847) 336-5212 or online at www.dhs.state.il.us. Click on Illinois Link Apply Online.


SALVATION ARMY REPRESENTATIVE

As a Salvation Army Representative, Vernon Township dispenses financial help to residents who meet The Salvation Army guidelines.


ADDITIONAL HUMAN SERVICES

We provide residents with referrals for Job Counseling. Also information and referrals to appropriate agencies for further assistance.

You may apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program at Vernon Township. Please call Kathie at 847/634-4600 to make an appointment.
