Vernon Township Assessment Appeals

Because the November 14, 2011 appeal deadline is approaching shortly the Vernon Township Assessor’s office will no longer review any more property values. We can not guarantee that we would be able to review any more properties than we currently have to review before the expiration of the appeal filing deadline. We recommend that constituents file appeals with the Lake County Board of Review. The Assessor’s office will review all appeals and give recommendations to a value as of January 1, 2011 at the appeal hearing or if time permits before it is scheduled by the county.

Current assessments are based on the median level of assessments of sales for the years 2008-2010 per Illinois Statute which is indicated on your assessment notice. However the board of review is not bound by this law so we can give them recommendations when reviewing evidence for individual appeals to a value as of January 1, 2011.
